  <dc:description>This pull out from a publishing proof shows a formal head and shoulders portrait of Rev Mgr David Canon Paterson, DD; Mgr Paterson was born on 10th April 1895 at Whitebridge, Inverness-shire; he gained his doctorate at Scot College, Rome, in both philosophy and theology and was ordained in Rome on 24th April 1921; he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Aberdeen until bad health forced him to resign from it about 1957; he died in Aberdeen on 29th September 1965, aged 71; full details of Mgr Paterson's obituary can be found on pp 339 to 349 of The Catholic Directory for Scotland 1966.</dc:description>
