Cardinal William Theodore Heard, Cardinal-Priest of S.Teodoro This photograph shows Cardinal William Heard kissing the hand of Pope John XXIII in Rome after receiving the beretta hat on the occasion of his appointment as Cardinal-Deacon of S.Teodoro on 14th December 1959; Cardinal Heard was born in Edinburgh on 24th February 1884 and ordained priest on 30th March 1918; he was elevated to Cardinal on 14th December 1959 and appointed Cardinal-Deacon of S.Teodoro on the same date; he was appointed Titular Bishop of Feradi Maius on 5th April 1962 and ordained Bishop on 19th April 1962; he was appointed Cardinal-Priest of S.Teodoro on 18th May 1970 and died on 16th September 1973, aged 89.
