  <dc:description>This postcard, signed on the front by Mgr Claeys, shows Mgr Claeys seated in formal pose, dressed in his Army uniform during the First World War; Mgr Claeys was born in Belgium on 29th August 1875; he entered St Peter's College, Bearsden in 1893 and was ordained priest on 19th March 1899; during the First World War period, he served with the 33rd Division of Artillery of the British Army and saw service in France and Flanders; as a result of his war experience, his health suffered but he was able to resume work in the Archdiocese of Glasgow; he died in Wemyss Bay on 17th November 1928, aged 53.</dc:description>
