Cardinal John Henry Newman, Cardinal-Deacon of the Title of St George This pull-out from a publishing proof shows a painting in colour of Cardinal John Henry Newman, dressed in his scarlet robes of office; Cardinal Newman was born in London on 21st December 1801 and converted to Catholicism from Anglicanism in October 1845; he was ordained priest in 1846 and created Cardinal-Deacon of the Title of St George on 12th May 1879; he died on 11th August 1890, aged 89.
