  <dc:description>This pull-out from a publishing proof shows Mgr Clapparton in a formal pose, looking to his left; Mgr Clapperton was born at Fochabers on 24th January 1886; in 1907, he entered the Scots College, Rome, to begin an association of more than 60 years with the College; he was ordained priest there in 1913; after his ordination, he became Vice-Rector of the College and in 1922 he succeeded Mgr Mackintosh as Rector; he died in Rome on 19th February 1969, shortly after his 83rd birthday.</dc:description>
