  <dc:description>This photograph shows a painting of Bishop Ranald MacDonald, resplendent in his Bishop's robes and wearing a pectoral cross, holding a book in his ringed right hand; Bishop MacDonald was born in Edinburgh in 1756 and ordained priest in Douai, France in [1780]; he was nominated titular bishop of Arindela and vicar apostolic on 27th August 1819 and consecrated at Edinburgh on 25th February 1820; he translated to Western District on 13th February 1827 and died in Fort William on 20th September 1832.</dc:description>
