Fr John Baptist Bodoana SJ was born 3 December 1832, in Manchester, England. He made his humanity studies at Stonyhurst College, and entered the English Province of the Society of Jesus at Hodder (Lancashire), on 7 September 1850. After the usual course of philosophy and teaching, both at Stonyhurst and at St Francis Xavier’s College, Liverpool, at the latter for six years, he made his four years’ theology at St Beuno’s College, and was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest there. He subsequently filled the offices of Minister at the Novitiate, Roehampton, and Prefect of Studies at Mount St Mary’s College, and was professed of the four vows 2 February 1868. He died at Roehampton, of lingering consumption, on 15 July 1868.
