Fr Thomas Brownbill SJ was born 25 December 1788, at Gillmoss (Lancashire), England. He was educated at Stonyhurst College, and entered the English Province of the Society at Hodder on 7 September 1806. After his studies and course of teaching he was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest at Stonyhurst College by Bishop [Thomas] Smith, on 4 September 1813. After acting as Socius to the Master of Novices at Hodder, and serving the mission of Clitheroe from thence, and then the mission of Stockheld Park, he was appointed Master of Novices 19 September 1827. He was professed of the three vows 2 February 1831. On 12 March 1842 he became Superior of the Seminary, Stonyhurst, and died there 18 November 1844.
