On 26 February 1826 he was decalred Provincial, and remained in that office until 28 May 1832. On 17 April 1828 he laid the first stone of the new Seminary, or House of Studies, adjacent to Stonyhurst College. of which he was appointed Superior 30 July 1834, and subsequently became Spiritual Father of both houses, besides being Consultor of the Province, and teaching the London University course of studies. He was appointed Visitor of Ireland by the Rev Fr General in June 1842 and returned from that duty in July 1843. After filling the office of Rector os St Aloysius' College, he was sent to Exeter 11 September 1845, to gather materials for a continuation of the history of the English Province from 1635, to which period Fr Henry More's history extended.
