Admin_HistoryFr Joseph Tomlinson was born and educated in Preston, at the Catholic Day College. He taught for six years at St Michael's, Leeds before taking his London general degree. He coached sport, but his main subject was literature, English and Latin. In 1924 he moved to St Beuno's for two years before Heythrop. He then spent some time at Paray-le-Monial for his Tertainship, and a year teaching a Beaumont. In 1930 he moved to Leeds for 11 years of teaching. He was put in charge of St Peter's School, Southbourne, in 1941. When the school was handed over to the De La Salle brothers in 1947, he went to St Francis Xavier's until the work proved too much, and he was appointed Socius to the Master of Novices. He remained in that position until 1958 when he went to Dogmersfield, the De La Salle Brothers' house of studies.
